Marv Ellis is an undisputed veteran MC, producer, and lyricist hailing from Eugene, Oregon. With a music career spanning over 25 years, he has carved out a distinct legacy in the Pacific Northwest music scene by blending deep, conscious hip-hop lyricism with an eclectic mix of live instrumentation.
As a solo artist and collaborator, his hallmark became the seamless integration of live acoustic instrumentation into hip-hop—a sound he proudly calls "North West Fresh" or "Northwest authentic jam-hop". Over the years, he spearheaded several dynamic collaborative live projects.
Throughout his 18 album discography, Marv has stood firm on creative independence, musical therapy, and integrity. His recent 2026 project, 8 Pound Baby, Pt. 2, perfectly encapsulates this philosophy—marketed as 100% AI-free, human-made, therapy-based "neuro-spicy" Northwest hip-hop. He recorded the project in the very room he grew up in, intentionally withholding it from major corporate streaming networks like Spotify to maintain absolute ownership of his art.

DJ Dv8: For 25 years, DJ Dv8 has been rocking shows, crushing DJ battles and packing dance floors. A Eugene native, the turntablist sharpened his skills in the thriving underground Hip-hop scene of the early 2000's. Marv Ellis invited him to be a part of the legendary Imaginary Friends in 2006, Dv8 skillfully provided his musical skratch style to the 9-piece ensemble. Thus began a 20 year musical odyssey of collaboration and touring between Marv & Dv8. Together they have played their music internationally, created albums of material together, pushed live-band Hip-hop to new frontiers, and always shined their light for the NW community and places that shaped them.
