SUBVERSIVE MINDS — Backrooms. Bass. Believers. — Aug 30 @ Blairally, Eugene
This isn’t a promo—it’s a summons. Subversive (Eugene), MadMinds (Coos Bay), and BassCulture (Arcata) are tearing up the scripts and rewriting the code of what a bass event should feel like. We’re lighting up the backroom where the scene still breathes: arcades in the Whit, warehouse wisps, and dusty, neon-lit corners where our culture thrived.
We don’t sell tickets—we ignite them: $10 Early Bird, $15 Tier 2, $20 Last Call. These will vanish faster than a map-point before the cops show up. 21+ with ID.
On the decks:
Headliner: Secret Recipe (Oakland) — cinematic atmospheres, glitchy breakdowns, underground low-end that rattles more than the arcade machines.
Support tickets, ready for a ride:
ChopsJunkie • YDNA • PhatCheetah • OPTICOLE
Sound System:
HOQS Paraflex rig — chest-shaking power, not ear-wrecking chaos.
Venue & Time:
Blairally Vintage Arcade — 245 Blair Blvd, Eugene (the arcade that never sold out its soul).
Saturday, August 30 — 9PM to 2am
Your Role:
Show up local. Stay skin-deep in the subversive bass culture that doesn’t rely on marketing, forged instead by map points, info lines, and stories that have lasted a lifetime. This isn’t a social event. It’s a family reunion, a ritual of sound, a reclaiming of the underground..
Bass is the culture. Subversive by nature, MadMinds in the design.

SCOTT PEMBERTON O THEORY - (Billy Stings Afterparty Show!)
10pm $12 Adv. / $15 Door 21+
Scott Pemberton Band is an emerging force on the national festival and club circuit, with his wild approach to the guitar and nimble funky band he is immediately recognizable and undeniably original. He doesn’t use a strap, often plays the guitar like someone would play piano and performs with the uninhibited joy and intensity of someone who recognizes that every time we make music is an honor and a gift.
Scott Pemberton’s sound is much like the vibe of his native Portland: freaky, fun and just the right amount of weird. The best way to categorize his music is with the moniker “Timber Rock”. Scott naturally applies his own lens/stamp to the sounds of the Pacific North West, the region he has always called home. The deep jazz, NW rock/grunge, blues roots and the west coast funk. It’s all there, and often all in the same song. Listeners are finding this honest, original and to-the-point music refreshing and fun.
The response to Scott’s music has made him an emerging force on the festival circuit, placed him at #1 in Portland’s pop charts, #4 on Bilboards “Tastmakers” chart and has generated notice from the press:
“The Bruce Lee of Rock and Roll” –Tahoe Onstage
“A modern day Jimi Hendrix” –Chico Enterprise
“It’s not every day we get to see a real, live guitar god in action.” -Fly Magazine (Pennsylvania)
“A wildly creative virtuoso.” -Jambase.com
“Stand out artist at this year’s High Sierra Music Festival” –Relix Magazine.
“At a festival FULL of guitarists (Safeway Water Front Blues Festival), none played like Pemberton or was as fun to watch” -The Oregonian
The mastery of his guitar playing combined with the fun recklessness of his songwriting show that the rules of songwriting and playing the guitar no longer exist for him. Scott plays with the uninhibited joy and intensity of someone who recognizes that every time we make music is an honor and a gift.
Scott’s Path:
Many master guitarists find their homes within a specific genre, perfecting the ins and outs of their chosen musical realm until their names become synonymous with the very art form.
Portland’s Scott Pemberton is not your average guitarist. He’s a musical nomad. His home isn’t in one comfortable bubble, but rather spread across genres. One moment, he’s shredding through the blues. Then next, he’s living in a classic rock world, or drifting melodically through an ethereal psychedelic plane. Maybe he’s leading a dirty funk jam, or experimenting with something heavier, or sitting back on a jazz odyssey. Regardless of genre, though, Pemberton’s musical journey is marked by two unmistakeable realities: You always know when you’re hearing a Scott Pemberton song. And you’re always going to be captivated.
A Portland native, Pemberton and his guitar have been inseparable since the musician was in his teens, and he quickly established himself as an integral to the city’s musical fabric, sitting in on studio sessions, becoming a fixture at jazz and rock clubs, and taking guitar teaching positions at Lewis & Clark College and Reed College at age 21. So much a part of Portland’s fabric is Pemberton that the city’s famous Voodoo Donutes gifted him a custom guitar-shaped donut for his birthday.
Beyond stages both local and international, his music has found its way into various movies, television programs and advertisements (Nike, Coke, Jaguar, and NASCAR ads have been propelled by his distinctive melodies), and his funky guitar work has led to collaborations with legendary drummers such as Motown’s Mel Brown and Bernard Purdie, AKA “the world’s most recorded drummer.” He’s played prime spots at major festivals across the U.S. and Canada, hit #4 on Billboard’s Tastemakers’ charts and ranked among the top performers on Jambase, peaking at #2 during the High Sierra Music Festival, where he stormed the stage.
Even more remarkable than Pemberton’s quick ascent to a superhero on the axe, though, is his second act. Most musicians are lucky to find their talent in the first place. For Pemberton, his love affair with his guitar received a rebirth following a bike accident that nearly ended his life and caused a traumatic brain injury, a life-changing event that would have grounded most artists. For Pemberton, it only fueled his musical drive. During rehabilitation, the guitarist rediscovered his gift, and emerged with a strong new vision as an artist.
Exploding back into the public consciousness stronger, sharper and more dedicated than ever, Pemberton released his eclectic debut, Sugar Mama, produced by Los Lobos sax player Steve Berlin and featuring a bevy of guest performers including legendary bluesman Curtis Saldago. Amazingly, Sugar Mama manages the difficult task of capturing Pemberton’s wildly ambitious live persona, jackknifing across genres with ease, using the frontman’s intricate musicianship as a glue that holds it all together.
A master showman who draws amazed stares when audiences realize he’s shredding without a guitar strap, Pemberton’s unique musical gifts and infectiously positive attitude come exploding to life, making the axe man and his band’s legendary shows on stages small and large come vibrantly to life. The music is hypnotic in its infectiousness — consistently challenging listeners while grounding it all in a familiar foundation of rock. Music is Pemberton’s domain. The stage is his home. And his door is always open.
Scott’s path is simple and clear. Make the best music he can…. Share it with others…. That is all.

The Unbranded
A band. A movement. A philosophy. Join us...
The Unbranded started as a solo project by singer and guitarist Kyle Pivarnik. He wasn’t sure exactly what type of musical genre his work was falling into, other than “some kind of rock.” Combined with his lack of tattoos and his career in marketing, the name The Unbranded emerged.
After re-locating to Oregon, Kyle teamed up with Michael Rose (bass), and Daniel Brawley (Drums) and the band was formed.
“When I was younger, punk rock opened up a world view that was foreign to me. Bound by rigid religious views that were imposed on me, I didn't know it was OK to feel the way I did. To question what we were told. And that I wasn't alone. We want to create music that does that for people.”
From there, it has grown into creating safe spaces for the voiceless, connecting people in a disconnected/disenfranchised world, and questioning our cultural assumptions.
Drawing musical inspiration from 90’s skate punk, grunge, and alternative bands, The Unbranded embrace a less than perfect aesthetic. “Everything is so polished these days. I think people are looking for something a bit more real and authentic. We want our music to capture that raw tinge while still existing in the modern production spectrum.”
All are welcome.

Igor & The Red Elvises
8pm $10 Adv. / $12 Door 21+ After 9pm
The Red Elvises are an American cult band that performs funk rock, surf, rockabilly, reggae, folk rock, disco and traditional Russian styles of music. They were founded in California in the mid-1990s and are based in Los Angeles.
Igor Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak, led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible, Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk’n’Roll” band Limpopo, and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. In 1993, Limpopo won Ed McMahon’s Star Search and their popularity began to blossom. In 1995, Igor dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock’n’roll. Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances. Evolving over the years, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. Over the past 20 years, Red Elvises have constantly toured all over the world with occasional breaks to record new music and to participate in film and television projects.
As an independent band, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, a live concert DVD, and a Greatest Hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and or performances in “Six String Samurai”, “Mail Order Bride”, “Armageddon”, “Skippy”, “Melrose Place”, “Fastlane”, “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza”, “VH-1 Behind the Music”, and “MTV”. Red Elvises have performed for large festivals, private parties, and played on massive stages such as 2005’s Live 8 Benefit Concert. No matter where they perform, Igor & Red Elvises always bring the party with them.

Bon Bon Vivant
9pm $10 Adv. / $12 Door 21+
Bon Bon Vivant’s dynamic sound fuses the pulse of their New Orleans home with the grit of indie and the heart of Americana. In the hands of frontwoman Abigail Cosio and saxophonist/vocalist Jeremy Kelley, Bon Bon Vivant's music is a tribute to life, from the chaotic to the captivating and everything in between.
Cosio and Kelley have built their home on stage, where their bandmates are like family and every show is a gathering of their ever-growing community. Their marriage and creative partnership is foundational to Bon Bon Vivant’s musical identity. Together, they craft a sound that balances infectious energy with introspective depth, drawing listeners into a world of captivating rhythms and evocative storytelling. Their eccentricity is as likely to captivate a curious NPR listener as it is to draw in the wandering festival-goer.
For Bon Bon Vivant, live performance is about more than music—it’s storytelling in motion. Their shows are charged and immersive, pulling audiences into a world that’s both intimate and theatrical. Lead songwriter Abigail Cosio crafts songs that unfold like vignettes—emotional, witty, with a hint of the macabre.
Bon Bon Vivant's music is, at its core, a celebration of life in all its messy, beautiful contradictions. Their songs revel in the joys of existence while acknowledging the ever-present specter of loss, a balance deeply embedded in the ethos of New Orleans itself. The band's performances carry this philosophy forward, transforming venues into communal gatherings where revelry and reflection can coexist.
Bon Bon Vivant is proving that it’s more than possible to exist beyond any one label or set of expectations. They are musicians, storytellers, and enthusiastic ambassadors of a city that embraces contradiction and complexity — and they invite you to join in the dance.

Arthur Buezo
Where Arthur Buezo is from and has developed cant be pin-pointed, as he has travelled for all of his life. Throughout these travels, music has been the main constant for him. Arthur Buezo has been a professional musician since 2010 and now is a One-Man-Band performer bringing the self titled genre, Savage Folk. While keeping original music alive and well, sooner or later he will come to a venue near you.
- Basin Beat
The unique savage folk sound of Arthur Buezo amazed the crowd in attendance at the 2022 Klamath Folk Festival held Saturday at the Ross Ragland Theater (Image: Brian Gailey). However, it might have been the deep, edgy, soulful voice of the one-man band Arthur Buezo that stole the show.
Buezo’s latest album is titled “Savage Folk.” However, it might be a title more fitting to his performance style. Dressed in a dark suit and a large brim hat, Buezo sat behind a drum strumming a guitar. He stomped the drum with his right foot and shook a tambourine on his left. A small amp for his guitar sat slightly behind him on a milk crate. Buezo completed the look by decorating his drum with pelts, antlers, and the horn of a gramophone.
Buezo performed originals for the festival crowd and capped his performance with the unique guitar riffs matching his rustic vocals in “Valhalla.”
The independent self-funded and self-produced folk star has been a traveling professional musician since 2010 doing 100+ shows per year. Originally from upstate New York, he now calls Beatty, Oregon home. During the show, Buezo played his favorites. Yet also recanted stories of his new life in Beatty and how important community is to him. Buezo even mentioned converting a shipping container into a recording studio on his land. A place where he can continue to do his own unique style of music.
