Ready Steady Soul Club: 20th Anniversary Weekender Info | Facebook
Ready Steady Soul Club hosts local dance parties spinning ‘60s soul and R&B records at 45rpm
20 years of lo-fi stompers & hip-shaking floor fillers
Ready Steady Soul Club was born one winter evening in 2006 when Aaron, Joe, Ian and Michele met up at The Vet's Club to discuss our next move after a couple soul & reggae nights at Tiny Tavern, hosted by Top Dead Center Scooter Club. Music was provided by Smile'n Joey and Aaron from Portland.
The talent
In the beginning it was Smile'n Joey, Aaron (PDX) and Ian spinning soul & reggae. Then over the next couple years Donovan, Aaron (Eug) and Joe joined in. Soon Geoff came on board. The newest member is Adam from SoCal.
Today's RSSC crew: Joe, Aaron, Geoff, Adam + dozens of special guests over the years!
It's about the music
A couple years prior to the founding of Ready Steady Soul Club, TDC hosted DJs and fellow scooterists Marc Muller and Mike Chrietzberg of Emerald City Flying Monkey's in Seattle to spin records at the annual May Day scooter rally in Eugene. TDC members were also attending the annual High Rollers scooter rally in Las Vegas, where DJs from the UK and California were spinning '60's soul & reggae. Soon Muller and Chrietzberg started Emerald City Soul Club in Seattle. The Eugene crew followed in 2006.
